Laminate is wood-based core (HDF) with a printed wear layer; LVP is vinyl-based and waterproof. Laminate is cheaper, LVP handles water better.
Can laminate go in a basement?
Only AquaGuard or waterproof-rated laminate; standard laminate is not recommended below grade.
